Classic Vanilla Cupcakes with Buttercream Frosting

Ingredients (Makes 12 cupcakes):

Cupcakes:

  • 1 1/2 cups (180g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup (200g) sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) milk

Buttercream Frosting:

  • 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 cups (360g) powdered sugar
  • 1–2 tbsp milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a muffin tin with 12 cupcake liners.
  2. Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy (2–3 min). Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla.
  4. Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk.
  5. Divide batter evenly and bake for 18–20 minutes. Cool before frosting.
  6. Beat frosting ingredients until fluffy. Pipe or spread on cooled cupcakes.
